Even though Mister Harry Potter himself defeated He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named years ago, the magical world has changed. And that change hasn’t been for the better.
The day Voldemort was defeated, most of the Death Eaters pretended nothing happened and carried on living the way they had the day before. Most were slightly saddened by the loss of their leader, and others were mortified. If the all powerful Voldemort could be defeated by a lowly half-breed, how were they supposed to follow in his foot steps? Well, most of the Death Eaters downgraded and decided grumbling about the mudbloods would be good enough, and of course, there are those few that refused to give up hope. But those who still wanted to rid the world of anyone that had the smallest drop of non-magic blood in them were soon locked up in Azkaban.
For a very brief period in time, the people with non-magic blood were finally safe from those who only had magic blood. But, that didn’t last very long.
As soon as Voldemort was killed by Harry Potter a few of his followers decided to follow in his foot steps, but they were going to be more careful than Voldemort. They weren’t going to sacrifice all they had worked on for just one teenager. They were going to rid the world of all its impurities, not just Harry Potter. So, Rodolphous LeStrange and the two Carrow siblings continued where Voldemort left off with the help of a few other Death Eaters.
The small group of Voldemort’s followers started to plan their takeover of the Ministry, and this time they weren’t going to take over the members within it. They were going to gain control of the Ministry by themselves. The Death Eaters started to gain more and more followers, and most of them were people that they wouldn’t have expected to join. But, the more they had, the better. So, the Death Eaters took who ever they got. This time instead of branding their members with the Dark Mark, they stuck to something a little less obvious. All the new members had a small ‘X’ on the back of their neck that pulsed, just like the old Dark Mark had when the Dark Lord needed them. And with that they started a new branch of Death Eaters.
These Death Eaters were younger and they were trusted within the walls of the Ministry. And most important of all, they looked like average people. They didn’t have anything about them that struck people as odd. In fact, they all blended into a crowd quite well.
About the time where Harry Potter’s kids were entering their first few years at Hogwarts, Ministry of Magic's employees were Death Eaters, and it only grew from there. Now, nearly thirty years later, a large number of the members of the Ministry are Death Eaters, including the Minister of Magic. All of the Muggle-Haters have been freed from Azkaban and now roam the streets with the rest of the commoners. New laws have been passed, making the lives of Muggleborns even harder then when Voldemort was running the Ministry. Currently the Death Eaters are keeping a close surveillance on all of those who aren’t Purebloods. And, to help prevent any Purebloods’ family lines from being ruined, the Ministry has marked all of those who aren’t of pure blood. All the muggles have been marked with a small black Dark Mark on the inside of their left wrist.
Everyday the rules for the “Lesser Beings” as the Ministry likes to call them, have been intensified. Everyone has been waiting in suspense for the day that the Ministry decides they are going to rid the world of its impurities. Most have already given up hope, but there still are a few who believe. Someone out there has to be ready to put an end to what the Death Eaters are doing.
The Story at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry isn't much different. Almost all of the professors used to teach the student have been replaced by a handful of Death Eaters. Not all of the professors have been replaced, but a good chuck has. The students have to watch their every move, especially those who are Purebloods. The student have suspected that some of the teachers and the new Headmaster are Death Eaters, but that still didn't stop their parents from sending them there.
At Hogwarts, the muggleborns have to pay a fee to get educated at the school. All of the other students who have wizarding blood can continue their education for free.
Some of the students are beginning to fight back. With the help of the Potter and Weasley kids, Dumbledore's Army has started back up again. They meet in secret and are planning something big. Something that'll change the way things work at school. Something to make everyone even again, regardless of their blood.
But, the teacher of the school are aware of their little organization and have made the rules and punishments a lot more harsh. If anyone is caught forming secret organizations, you're automatically expelled. And for those who catch the members of the secret organization get paid a hefty reward. Many of the students choose to stay out of harms way, doing just as their teachers tell them too, but others have to rebel. They want to make things right again.
Just like when Pandora lifted the cover on her box grief, sadness, disease, sorrow, anger, jealousy, and death spilled out into the world leaving only hope in the box. And, that’s exactly what three-fourths of the magical world has left. The Ministry has let loose all of Pandora’s Box’s contents and all they can do now is hope. Hope for someone to save them.
