The way in which Bella acted around him had always intrigued Edward to no end, and he had found it hard to get his head around, even when she had explained it as him having the ability to dazzle people. That conversation seemed like a life time ago and yet he remembered every little detail about it. From the décor of the little restaurant to the more than peculiar thoughts of the waitress, but it had been where he had almost murdered a group of men who had become a little too interested in Bella. Ever since the years of his rebellion, it was the first time he had ever wanted to kill someone with such an unleashed fury. And it irritated him even now to recall the memory, especially as he held Bella in his iron grasp and for a moment the thoughts of those men entered his head, and he gritted his teeth, suddenly clearing his head and breathing deeply before he found his temper getting too carried away. He wasn’t interested in getting angry tonight and more importantly not in front of Bella, she was here now and alive, that was all he could ever possibly care about. After a moment or two of self restraint and calming his was able to focus now that his temper had all but dissolved.
Looking down at her for a moment but remaining silent he observed the smooth contours of her face, moving one of his hands from her back to her face, picking a strand of her hair between his fingers, he played with it enjoying the feel of the strands of her hair which felt somewhat like silk beneath his touch. Now that he was back with her, Edward felt much calmer. Even a few hours sent him into an anxious frenzy so much so that he had irritated his family at times, when they had assured him again and again that Bella was positively fine and that a few hours apart wouldn’t make any difference considering Alice was keeping a close eye on the girl’s future, which was still there confirming she was going to be alive and with him in but a few hours. Though even at that he could only take minor comfort in it. A few hours could make a difference, hadn’t that been proven in the past with Bella? His fiancé had proved to be spontaneous at times and he was terrified that something would happen when he wasn’t there and it would be his fault for not being there to protect her.
Tucking the strand of hair behind her ear, he let his hand drop to cup her face lightly, his slender, cold fingers tracing along her cheek, feeling the heat that radiated from her soft skin that felt incredible against his ice cold hand. Hearing her heart beat continue to pound madly in her chest he let out another low chuckle. “Breathe love.” He told her quietly, with a small smile. The last thing he wanted was Bella passing out on him and by the rate her heart was pounding at she would end up in a bout of hyperventilation in no time. It was times like these that he considered pulling away from her for a while, just to let her heart beat calm a little, because the furious rushing of her blood around her body and the heavy thud of her veins didn’t do much on the calming side for him either. But like always he stuck it, as selfish as it was, he was unwilling to move from this spot. Having Bella captured in his arms was way to enjoyable to make him so much as flinching from his current position.
At Bella’s response to his mention of Alice’s obsessive nature, he gave a small nod. It was true. His whole family had been happy when he had found Bella. For over a century he had been alone and when she had come along they had all rejoiced and now that they were finally sealing the last human tie to each other well it was a brilliant occasion for his entire family, though he was sure Alice had known this was how it would end all along. “Yes, she is. But as I have made it clear, I would happy marrying you in a run down chapel in Vegas.” He said, his tone of voice hinting at humour though there was seriousness behind his words. “As long as I have you, I am happy.” And it was true. Happiness had been some what of a rarity in his life until he had met her. And to him it didn’t matter where they got married, as in the end, he would still have the privilege of calling her his wife. Mrs Isabella Cullen. And that was all he could ever want.
It had always been a relief that his family had grown to include Bella, as if she were part of the family, which she soon would be, at least everyone except maybe Rosalie, and he had been arguing with his stubborn sister trying to convince her to give Bella more of break, but was so far unsuccessful ever since it had been made clear that Edward did intend on changing her soon after the wedding. He was still hoping that Rose would eventually come round, but that could take quite sometime, decades even, but they would have that time at least once he changed her. A subject that he was still torn on. Yes, he had promised to do it and he was going to keep his promise, but he was still torn on a moral level. She still had so many experiences she could come to know on a human level, even if she left the change for a few years. But the aging put her off. Then again, when she was changed, he would finally be able to let his guard down, and treat her like a lover should, not like she was a breakable vase.
“Yes, indeed she is. And Emmett to now that I come to think of it.” A humorous lift flickered in his eyes. His brother got a lot of laughs from Bella. Her constant lack of balance and ability to blush was non-stop entertainment for him. Her opinion on Charlie was fair but he knew where the man was coming from. He was playing the part of the father, over protective and over bearing at times, but only because he loved his daughter, and she had already been hurt once by Edward and he was scared it would happen again. This he knew from Charlie’s thoughts, and as painful as some of them were it was true and he was well justified in his actions. “He’s just worried about you. It never is easy to admit your daughter has grown up and to let her go. Humour his over protectiveness.” He told her softly, shifting slightly and dropping his hand under her chin to tilt her head up so he could look into her eyes.
“Both options? Well maybe I should act like the creature of the night I am, and steal you away.” He murmured, bearing his teeth and playfully growling as he moved to lower his mouth to her neck, closing his lips tight before his teeth could so much as graze her skin as he pressed his lips to her neck gently, inhaling deeply as the sweet scent of her blood filled his nostrils, and that ache began in his throat, like he had swallowed flames. He was past the utter temptation of biting her that came from this action, but it didn’t mean that it still didn’t have the same effect on him. The fire still burned and thirst still rose.
Pulling back from her neck so as to answer her question, but still remain close to her, he ran a finger down the part of her neck where his lips had just been. “If you want me too, I shall stay here.” He told her quietly. Truth be told he would more than happily spend the night watching her sleep as he had no desire to spend the night pacing his house and counting down the milliseconds until he could be reunited with her once more.
